There’s something so special about a spring wedding in Georgia—everything feels fresh, full of light, and a little extra magical. Ally and Davis’ March wedding at the Payne-Corley House in Duluth, Georgia was no exception! From beginning to end, it was one of those days that reminded me just how powerful and joy-filled a wedding day can be.
This was my first time photographing a wedding at the Payne-Corley House, and I already can’t wait to go back! The venue itself has this charming, intimate feel—like stepping into a beautifully restored Southern home, where every space has character and natural light. The ceremony took place just outside the main house under sunny spring skies, and the reception space inside felt warm, cozy, and full of personality. The venue’s staffing team, especially Amanda Stewart, was so kind and helpful to us vendors throughout the day, which made the experience even more enjoyable!
Ally and Davis are the kind of couple that make you feel instantly welcomed. Their love for each other was so sweet and sincere—you could see it in the quiet glances they shared when the other wasn’t looking. One of the things that stood out most to me was how rooted they are in their faith. It was clear that their love for God and each other is at the center of their relationship, and that same faith was reflected in their families—especially Ally’s parents, who were such a strong and loving presence throughout the day.
Their ceremony followed the traditional Methodist format and included a beautiful unity braid tied to a cross. Ally’s bridal details were incredibly meaningful: she carried a handkerchief that belonged to her great-grandmother, wore clips her mom used on her wedding shoes, and carried a clutch handmade from her mom’s wedding dress. Even the card basket was adorned with flowers from her mom’s bouquet—a true generational celebration of love.
Ally and Davis surrounded themselves with the best kind of people—the kind who cheer you on, fix your veil without being asked, and break out in full dance mode the second the reception begins. The bridesmaids wore elegant black dresses, while the groomsmen looked classic in tuxedos. The grand entrance set the tone for a fun evening: bridesmaids danced in to “Run the World” by Beyoncé, groomsmen followed with “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and the couple entered to the ultimate early 2000s throwback—“What Dreams Are Made Of” by Hilary Duff. (Yes, I was dancing behind the camera!)
One of my favorite moments from the day was during the reception speeches—Davis’ brother and mom gave such heartfelt toasts mixed with a little bit of humor, and I genuinely had to hold back tears while photographing. It’s rare that a wedding feels this balanced between beautiful, lighthearted fun and deep emotional connection, but theirs did.
Photographing Their Wedding
As a light and airy wedding photographer, I always love photographing at venues that reflect my style. The Payne-Corley House delivered—neutral tones, open shade, gorgeous natural light, and just enough space to capture backlit portraits that glow. Add in Ally’s timeless gown from Aisle & Veil, white florals with fresh greenery by The Cottage Florals, and a wedding party that trusted me completely, and it was truly a dream to photograph!
Their first dance to “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)” by James Taylor was the perfect way to begin a night full of dancing, laughter, and even a live painting session by the talented Tiffani Beck (@tiffani_rose_art)—a stunning keepsake to remember the day.
