There’s just something about a spring wedding in Georgia. Everything is coming back to life, the light is soft and beautiful, and the whole day feels a little extra special. Ally and Davis’ March wedding at the Payne-Corley House in Duluth, Georgia was exactly that.

This was actually my first time photographing a wedding at the Payne-Corley House, and I can already tell it won’t be my last!

The venue has so much charm. It feels like you’re walking into a beautifully restored Southern home that’s full of character and history. Every space photographs beautifully, and there’s no shortage of gorgeous natural light. Their ceremony took place outside on a sunny spring afternoon, and the reception inside felt cozy, welcoming, and full of so much joy.

I also have to give a shoutout to the venue team, especially Amanda Stewart! They were incredibly kind and helpful all day long, and as a wedding photographer, I can tell you that having a team like that makes such a difference for everyone involved.

A Day Full of Faith, Family, and Meaningful Details

One of my favorite things about Ally and Davis was how easy they were to be around. They have such a genuine love for each other, and you could see it in all the little moments throughout the day. The quiet smiles. The happy tears. The way they looked at each other when they thought no one was paying attention.

Their faith is also such a big part of who they are, and it was woven into every part of their wedding day. You could see it not only in their relationship but in the love and support surrounding them from both of their families, especially Ally’s parents.

Their ceremony followed a traditional Methodist service and included a beautiful unity braid wrapped around a cross, which was such a meaningful moment.

I also loved all of the family heirlooms Ally incorporated into her bridal details. She carried her great grandmother’s handkerchief, wore the shoe clips her mom wore on her own wedding day, and carried a clutch that had been handmade from her mom’s wedding dress. Even the card basket was decorated with flowers from her mom’s wedding bouquet!

I always love seeing couples find thoughtful ways to honor family traditions. Those little details end up telling such a beautiful story.

A Wedding Party That Knew How to Have Fun

If there was one thing that stood out about this wedding, it was how much fun everyone had!

Ally and Davis surrounded themselves with the kind of friends who jump in wherever they’re needed, celebrate every moment, and somehow keep the energy high all day long.

The bridesmaids looked so elegant in black dresses, and the guys kept things classic in tuxedos.

Then came one of my favorite reception entrances.

The bridesmaids danced into “Run the World” by Beyoncé, the groomsmen followed with “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and Ally and Davis made their entrance to “What Dreams Are Made Of” by Hilary Duff.

Needless to say, I was definitely dancing behind my camera.

One of the sweetest parts of the evening came during the speeches. Davis’ brother and his mom shared stories that had everyone laughing one minute and wiping away tears the next. I honestly had to remind myself to keep taking pictures because I was so caught up in what they were saying.

Those are always some of my favorite moments to photograph because they’re completely real.

Photographing Their Payne-Corley House Wedding

As a Georgia wedding photographer who loves a light and airy editing style, this venue was such a dream.

Between the neutral colors, beautiful open shade, and gorgeous natural light, every part of the property photographed so well. We had plenty of opportunities for those soft, glowing portraits that I love creating for my couples.

Ally looked absolutely timeless in her gown from Aisle & Veil, and the white florals with fresh greenery from The Cottage Florals fit the day perfectly!

One of my favorite moments was their first dance to James Taylor’s “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You).” It was such a sweet way to kick off an evening filled with dancing, laughter, and celebrating.

Guests also got to watch the incredibly talented Tiffani Beck create a live wedding painting throughout the reception, which made for such a unique keepsake from the day (I highly recommend hiring a live painter of some kind for your wedding!)
