If you live in Florida or are familiar with the weather, you already know that it can be unpredictable! One day it can be a sunny beach day, the next, it may be raining intensely. Being a natural light and on-location photographer, sometimes the weather is for you, or totally against you! For Alex and Fernando, we had to reschedule their engagement session a couple of times due to mother nature. When we finally found a weekend where we thought the weather would just cooperate with us, we set out for their session! We were so excited to be photographing their engagement session at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. Alex picked this location out not only because it’s one of south Floridas beautiful hidden gems, but also because that’s where they decided to do their ‘I Do’s’!
Carmen and I arrived at the Morikami Museum and waited excitedly for the couple to arrive! It started to slightly drizzle, but I knew that it just HAD to clear up! Alex asked me to be her photographer well over six months ago, so we got to communicate a good bit before we actually met. I felt like I already knew her! One of the first things I absolutely adored her for was the fact that when it was time to discuss her wedding day timeline, she had paid special attention to the small details! From sunset time, to wanting to do a first look so she could spend their cocktail hour with their family and guests!
Most couples getting married may not know that these factors can play a major part in determining how smooth their day can go, and that’s okay! I love helping and educating my couples on planning their wedding day because it allows us to do our part to ensure that they get the most out of their experience with us, and allows for them to have more than enough portrait time to capture all the major parts of their big day that only happens ONCE!
By the end of their engagement session, we just couldn’t get enough of these two! So much that the staff of the gardens had to finally kick us out! (Sorry Morikami!) Alex and Fernando, we had SO much fun with you two capturing your beautiful engagement photos. We’re counting down the days until your wedding day!
